The STAR Community Advisory Committee is a representative advisory body that oversees and holds accountable Denver’s Support Team Assisted Response Program. The STAR program, which pairs clinicians with medic as an alternative to police response, was launched as a pilot on June 1, 2020 with the SCAC launched a year later.
With recent tension between city administrative leaders of STAR and the community members of the SCAC. with many of the SCAC members having created STAR, Denver Department of Public Health and Environment has cancelled regular SCAC meetings, which occurred every month, until further notice. Nonetheless, the SCAC will continue meetings without DDPHE to maintain accountability and transparency to the public. Updates from SCAC-led efforts can be found and updated on this page.
