Press Release: Launch of STAR Program

On June 1, DASHR’s efforts to create an alternative 911 response in Denver, modeled after the program in Eugene, Oregon known as CAHOOTS took a major step forward with the launch of the STAR program (Support Team Assisted Response). This is the result of years of DASHR leading the work to build alternatives to policing, yet remains as a degree towards the program that we ultimately want. As this is a pilot program, we hope to launch a full program in 2021 that is truly based in the community and distinctly separate from police.
