July SCAC Meeting

DASHR has been involved with the envisioning, design, implementation, and now expansion of Denver’s STAR program which sends medics and clinicians to 911 calls instead of law enforcement. The STAR Community Advisory Committee is a mechanism of community oversight and input in the program, yet has experienced many challenges in influencing STAR and addressing concerns. In July, the monthly SCAC meeting was shut down by city personnel. In response, the SCAC released a statement regarding the meeting and continued behavior. Separately, ally organizations and individuals put together a different statement signed by dozens of groups and individuals to support the SCAC. Both statements are included in the next two pages.
