Reimagining Public Safety with Transformative Solutions

Save The Date: Thursday, April 29th 6:00pm-7:15pm

Join Denver Alliance for Street Health Response (DASHR) along with Arvadans for Social Justice, Evergreen Coalition for Racial Justice, Lakewood for Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Golden Anti-Racism Collective, and Wheat Ridge for Equity for this critical conversation that builds upon national public safety conversations within our local context.

Reimagining public safety goes beyond the standard use of policing and jails to more effectively tackle public health concerns such as housing insecurity, mental health, and substance misuse.  Currently and historically, public health issues and public safety systems have disproportionately and differentially impacted communities that identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color, LGBTQIA+, and disabled among other groups.  With the effects of the pandemic exacerbating existing inequities, there is more urgency than ever to prioritize transformative solutions that promote safety for all. Learn more about DASHR’s work on Denver’s community based crisis response model, STAR (Support Team Assisted Response), which focuses on equity and addresses root causes with appropriate, humane, and informed responses.  Leave with how and why communities in Jefferson County can benefit from a similar model.

Jefferson County community members will be prioritized in the registration process.
